MEET YOUR GUIDES Your guides bring to you years of experience planning trips to remote locations and often in extreme conditions. The Sonoran Desert, Grand Canyon and Lake Powell are some of the greatest natural wonders of the world, pure eye candy. However, they are huge desolate places where getting lost is out of the question. Our guides are all CPR and First Aid Certified, Certified by Tonto National Forest, members of the Arizona Herpetological Association and National Speleological Society. To really explore the beauty of this natural world, you need to escape deep into the wilds and doing so safely is our primary objective.
David Joaquim has been lending his many talents to the caving community in Arizona for over 19 years. He has been volunteering time with National Park Service in Carlsbad Caverns National Park, helping microbiologists studying extremophiles. David served many years as Treasurer of the Vertical Section, as well as Resource Preservation Chairman for the Conservation Section of the National Speleological Society. David is also a Certified Cave Guide for the Coronado National Forest in Southern Arizona and a Certified Guide for the Tonto National Forest. Over the years, David has also helped with cave projects in Grand Canyon National Park. There are very few roads in Arizona or New Mexico that David has not ventured down. David and Debra are both seasoned road warriors.
Debra Joaquim has been planning and organizing events, photo shoots, VIP corporate tours, weddings, baby blessing, camping trips, and caving trips in the wilds of Arizona and Utah for over 15 years. She worked for Lake Powell Resorts and Marinas as their Employee Recreation Coordinator for the over 1000 employees at the 5 marinas located on Lake Powell The challenge of organizing large functions in remote locations with limited access and limited resources is always interesting and exciting. She has planned and organized photo shoots with GQ Magazine on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon in December, Monument Valley, Lake Powell, Grand Canyon and Kartchner Caverns with Asian National Geographic photographer Michael Aw. Baby blessings and wedding ceremonies at the South Rim Grand Canyon, Havasu Falls and a blessing at Rainbow Bridge with a Navajo Shaman offering an intimate glimpse into the culture of indigenous persons and their spiritual connection to the plants, the animals, the land, the planet, the sun and the universe. Tim Munchweiler, also a native to the state, specializes in cinematography and photography in extreme locations. He has been working with Rex Tilousi, the Keeper of the Traditional Songs & Stories of the Havasupai People. Their amazing efforts to preserve the Havasupai language, customs and stories have resulted in a video documentary, “Havasu Baaja, People of the Blue Green Water” If you are looking for a location for a shoot or need help getting one organized Tim would love to help.
